Mamma's home.
Momma came home to welcoming arms. Benjamin seemed very glad to see me and didn't want to leave my side much all weekend. He even cried when I started to set him down in the nursery on Sunday. Now that may not sound like much, but it is a great sign of attachment.

We really didn't realize Benjamin wasn't feeling well, but boy can we tell he is better! He is just a ball of energy, and has not stopped jabbering all evening. I came home a bit early because we had to take Benjamin for a doctor's visit this afternoon. I think Benjamin enjoyed having me around, not that he doesn't love spending time with his Papa. In this picture he is playing with a toy corral that he put over his head for some reason.

As for the doctor visit. Benjamin has something called hypospadias. It's a minor deformity of the penis that requires surgery. We met with the pediatric urologist surgeon today and will be scheduling Benjamin's surgery very soon. The surgery is a fairly simple one, and when finished, he will have a normal functioning penis that looks circumcised. But poor little guy to have to go through it. I am dreading the anesthesia, but we are using TMC. TMC is the only hospital here in Tucson that has a specialty in pediatric anesthesia. Once the surgery is done, he will have a stint in his penis for about one week. The surgeon has assured us this is a good age and that he will recover very quickly, despite the stint and swelling. We will keep you all posted, and appreciate your prayers.

Poor little guy!! We went through general anesthesea with circumcision. It definitely wasn't fun, but he recovered very well & was feeling fine after a couple days. When Benjamin goes back for surgery, be sure to tell them that you need to be called in as soon as he comes out! Because of attachment, he needs to have you guys be there for him. In our case, the nurses held off on getting us because they thought he needed more meds to calm down & get out of pain -- but really, he was just freaked out & needed us! :( (I read this advice in a book after the fact too!)
