Libby and I arrived at the hospital at 8:30 AM for her surgery. We had to wait quite awhile so by the time we were taken back to pre-op Libby was pretty hyper and bored. She had her kookla and meeshka with her and was jumping all over the bed.

The doctor came and chatted with her and put a smiley face on the leg that was to be amputated. He even made me initial and leg. He knew it was a bit silly, given the situation, but it is hospital protocol.
All the doctors came by and introduced themselves to us. As I mentioned, Libby was pretty hyper, so they brought her some "relaxation juice" and boy did it work! She laid down on the stretcher and they wheeled her away. It was tough watching her be taken away. Some of you have not seen Libby's leg, so here is a close-up picture, with the smiley face! She is missing her tibia, and her fibula is floating. She has no knee joint. So the amputation is to be right at the knee.
